The Baggies will stay in London on Monday night after their match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, before jetting off to Spain in the morning.

During their time there they will spend three days training at Espanyol’s training ground, Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.

The team will then return on Friday ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Southampton at The Hawthorns.

Pardew organised the trip with current Espanyol boss and former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores, and he’s hoping the change of scenery will help his players in the fight for survival.

The weather forecast for Walsall this week, where Albion would have been training, includes snow and rain, but it’s expected to be sunny with highs of 17C in Barcelona.

It would have been a longer trip had Albion not reached the fifth round of the FA Cup.

“It's something I have always done and always found very beneficial," he said. "We're looking forward to changing the schedule and getting some freshness into the group for the run-in.

"The facilities are excellent and there is an opportunity to get in some quality training time with the players.

“Tottenham went there a few weeks ago and have had a very good run since returning."

Albion are now five points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League after Huddersfield Town beat Bournemouth Sunday.
