He has been crafted by Baggies fan Paul Ridler, the great-grandson of England and Albion legend Billy Bassett.

As well as Cyrille, who was laid to rest last week, he has also captured Paul Robinson after he scored a last-gasp header against Aston Villa in West Bromwich Albion's great escape season.

Jonas Olsson's goal in a 5-1 win at Wolves is also captured, along with a figurine of the Baggies' Three Degrees – starring Cyrille, Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson.

Mr Ridler, from Oxfordshire, said: "I have done the three degrees statue and I did a classic one of his striking in the summer last year.

"I did not want to make money on this statue and the money went to the Water Aid Charity.

"I am already booked up all August – for some reason it is Hibernian and Leeds fans that seem to ask for the most.

"If I was solid working it would take me about three hours but I have got to do one coat of paint at a time. I charge £25 for a single piece.

"This is something that I will be doing for the foreseeable future – I quite enjoy the challenge."

After filling his order books the timber-frame designer will look to capture more historic footballing moments.

The 41-year-old will seal footballing history in time with Subbuteo – such as the moment Aguero scored a last ditch winner against Queens Park Rangers to clinch the Premier League title in 2012.

Mr Ridler said: "I started about a year ago – I had lots of Subbuteo figures from my childhood kicking about.

"I put one up on social media and had quite a few responses from people so I thought I would just carry on doing them.

"I started getting orders in and I have done quite a few West Brom figures."

He continued: "I have even done one for Jonathan Greening and I have done one for Paul Robinson of his header against Villa.

"I did one of Richard Sneekes and then posted that and someone sent that picture to Richard whilst he was doing the football phone in and they were discussing it."

But the crafting of Subbuteo figures all started with one of his great-grandad Billy Bassett.

Basset, who won 16 England caps, became the first ever West Bromwich Albion player to be sent off April 28 1894 – said to have been dismissed for using bad language in a friendly match away at Millwall.

He later became director of the club in 1905 and then chairman in 1908.

Mr Ridler said: "My great-grandad is Billy Bassett – my nana married Billy's son Norman and she told me a fair few of the stories.

"When he died, with the amount of wreaths they received they just had nowhere to put them.

"She was telling me about when he played against Germany and a defender was marking him very tightly.

"We have got one England cap of his – we are proud of that."
