DEAL: Tyler Roberts departs West Brom for Leeds
West Brom have sold young forward Tyler Roberts to Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.
Roberts impressed on-loan at Walsall through the first half of this campaign, and during another temporary spell at Shrewsbury last season.
Several teams were linked with the 19-year-old, who's contract at The Hawthorns was set to expire this summer.
“We certainly didn’t want to lose one of our bright academy prospects but Tyler and his representatives made it very clear he wanted to join Leeds,” West Brom technical director Nick Hammond said.
"We have been actively trying to agree a new contract with him for a period of time but have been unable to do so.
“He is a fantastic young man who feels that for his future he wants to make a permanent move now and start playing regularly. Leeds United made us an exceptionally good offer and importantly we have also secured excellent protection further down the line if Tyler reaches his undoubted potential.
"We wish him and his family well going forward.”
Despite his impressive temporary deals, Roberts made just one senior appearance for West Brom, playing 17 minutes off the bench in the 1-1 draw at home against Liverpool in 2016.
He joins Shaun Donnellan, who also spent time at Walsall on-loan this season, in leaving Albion this month.
