Regis, who was just 59 years of age, died earlier this week - sparking tributes from around the world of football.

The former West Brom, Aston Villa and Wolves player was honoured by the Premier League in all of this weekend's league fixtures.

West Brom

West Brom travelled to Everton, with fans and players alike paying their respects to a Hawthorns hero, who became talismanic as part of the 'Three Degrees' consisting of Regis, Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson.

There was a minute's applause at Goodison Park, impeccably observed by all four corners of the stadium, while the away fans lifted banners and scarves in tribute to the former Albion striker.

Fans also held a banner with the phrase 'There's only one Cyrille Regis'.

Both sides sported black armbands through the game and took part in a minute's applause ahead of kick-off, with West Brom also having plans in place to honour the former forward with a special tribute in their next home game.

Wolves

Ahead of Wolves' clash with Nottingham Forest in the Championship, players and fans stopped ahead of kick-off to remember the striker.

He played a single season at Molineux, and players also donned black armbands to remember Regis.

Wolves also honoured him in their match-day programme.

Aston Villa

Villa Park rose as one to pay tribute to Cyrille Regis.

Players and supporters joined in a minute’s applause prior to Saturday’s Championship game against Barnsley in salute to Regis, who died on Monday at the age of 59.

The Villa team wore black armbands, while the stadium’s big screen displayed a picture of the legendary striker prior to the game.

Regis scored 12 goals in 63 appearances during a two-year stay at Villa between 1991 and 1993.

Both Villa boss Steve Bruce and former player Ian Taylor - a friend of Regis - paid tribute in the matchday programme.

Bruce wrote: “I remember coming up against Cyrille on a number of occasions, but one time when I was at Gillingham I recall being struck by how much of a giant he appeared when I had to mark him.

“But what a wonderful footballer he was too - pace, strength, power and a knack for scoring goals.

“He was a football icon, especially in this part of the world and he will be sorely missed.

“My thoughts, and the thoughts of everyone at Aston Villa, are with his family and friends at what must be a very difficult time.”

Taylor, meanwhile, described Regis as an “icon, trailblazer and friend”.

He said: “Cyrille was an absolute icon for the likes of myself and lads who were just getting into football. Later on he became a friend too so I was lucky enough to know him pretty well.

“His passing is going to be a big loss to football but also the people who looked up to him when they were growing up.

“He was such a nice guy it that is didn’t matter who he played for or what colours he was wearing. His character shone through and everybody loved him.”

Walsall

At The Valley, where Walsall were taking on Charlton in League One, both teams took part in a minute's applause before kick-off.

The Saddlers fans then burst into a rendition of 'There's Only One Cyrille Regis' in tribute to the great man.

Shrewsbury Town

At the Montgomery Waters Meadow, supporters of Shrewsbury and Doncaster took part in a minute's applause in memory of Regis.

Rather than it taking place before the game, it happened during the 59th minute of the League One clash.

The former West Brom, Villa and Wolves man passed away at the age of 59.

Around the grounds...

Around the rest of the leagues we also saw numerous tributes for Regis, with every Premier League club paying their respects ahead of their respective kick-offs with a minute's applause.
