Arsene Wenger: No agreement with West Brom for Jonny Evans
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed that he has made no agreement with West Brom over the future of Jonny Evans.
The Albion skipper is being heavily linked with Arsenal and Manchester City following a protracted saga over the summer, with Alan Pardew admitting that he may have to wave goodbye to the Northern-Irishman this month.
However, speaking in his press conference ahead of Arsenal's Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea, Wenger denied any agreement between the Baggies and Arsenal.
He also hinted that he could be beaten to the potential signing as Pep Guardiola's side have the financial clout to secure the services of Evans over the Gunners should they wish.
"We don’t have an agreement with anybody. I think the best thing is not to talk," he said.
"We will need to see off any interest of any other club, yes. I don’t know if Manchester City are in for anybody. I don’t know what their policy is.
“If the decision comes to finances against Manchester City, we know we will be second best.”
Pardew has already confirmed that he has plans in place should Evans depart The Hawthorns this month, but stated that there is still no official bid in for the centre-back from any party as yet.
The 30-year-old didn't feature during Albion's 2-0 FA Cup win over Exeter through injury, and is valued at around £30m by West Brom.
