Tony Pulis: Grzegorz Krychowiak only going to get better for West Brom
Tony Pulis has promised Albion supporters that Grzegorz Krychowiak is going to get even better in the coming weeks.
The Paris Saint-Germain loanee put in a supreme midfield performance at home to Watford last weekend.
He is currently away with Poland on international duty after being recalled to the squad and featured for his country in a 6-1 win against Armenia yesterday.
Pulis reckons those minutes, plus Krychowiak’s continued acclimatisation to the Premier League, will only improve the 27-year-old more.
“I still think it’s going to take him a month or two to get to the level we want him,” said Pulis. “Because he had such a long period off.
“Let’s not forget he lost his place in the Poland side as well from not playing so he was getting no game time whatsoever. He’s worked harder in training to get to the level, but he’s found it difficult.
“He’s found the pace of the games – week in, week out – extraordinary, if you speak to him.
“Every game is a tough game but we need to play him to get him to that level and that’s what we’ll do.”
Meanwhile, Pulis has been monitoring the progress of Jake Livermore while he’s been away with England.
Albion’s vice-captain didn’t start for the Baggies against Watford and was given a week’s rest earlier this season by Pulis.
“I think it’ll help him,” said Pulis. “He needs little bit more football, he’s had that little bit of a rest. The most important thing with Jake is to get his form back.”
Although Livermore is currently behind Krychowiak and Gareth Barry in his pecking order, he’s not surprised Gareth Southgate persevered with him in his England squad.
“Jake has played really well for England,” he said.
