West Brom reject second bid from Leicester City totalling £23m for captain Jonny Evans
West Brom have rejected a second bid from Leicester City for Jonny Evans totalling £23m.
The skipper is in high demand this summer, with the Foxes and Manchester City both chasing the Northern Ireland international.
Craig Shakespeare's side have already had a £10m bid for Evans rejected this summer, and have now lodged a bid of £21m rising to £23m.
The Baggies, who have already Manchester City's £18m bid, have also dismissed Leicester's latest offer.
It is way below their valuation of the skipper, who they believe is worth around £30m in today's market.
The club are also wary of selling Evans so close to Thursday's transfer deadline because it leaves them little time to bring in a replacement, such as Mamadou Sakho.
The defender, who has yet to feature for West Brom this season due to injury, addressed the speculation surrounding his future in the match programme ahead of the club's 1-1 draw with Stoke.
"Until anybody tells me different, I'm committed to the Albion, and I'm only thinking about getting in this team," he said. "It's a great club, and I'm proud to be captain. For me, all I'm thinking about is getting fit."
West Brom have been keen on adding another centre-back to their ranks ahead of the transfer deadline, although they have cooled their interest in Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer, who's now set to join Stoke City for £15m.
Pulis is a huge fan of Sakho, who impressed on loan at Crystal Palace last season.
The Baggies are also interested in Fenerbahce midfielder Josef De Souza, although a deal needs to be struck soon because he does not hold an EU passport and needs a work permit to play in the Premier League.
