Craig Dawson signs new deal at West Brom
Defender Craig Dawson has committed his future to Albion by signing a new three-year deal.
The 27-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a contract which will keep him at The Hawthorns until 2020 and includes a healthy wage increase.
Dawson’s previous deal had been due to expire next summer and talks over a new one had been ongoing for several months.
"I've always felt very settled here and I'm delighted to have reached this agreement," he said.
"It has been quite a journey so far but I still feel there is a lot more of the journey to come.
"I've watched the club come through a challenging spell and like to feel I have played my part in helping us improve, step by step.
"I try to be consistent and play my part for the team.
"But it never gets any easier at this level and as a footballer I know I've got to keep improving. That's my target every day and every game."
Dawson, who joined Albion from Rochdale in 2010, has been an integral part of Tony Pulis’s team, missing only one Premier League game over the past two seasons.
Typically utilised at right-back, Dawson has played in his more favoured position of centre-back during the early weeks of the current campaign, alongside new boy Ahmed Hegazi.
"Ahmed has done really well and I have enjoyed playing alongside him," said Dawson.
"It's been a good solid start from the team and we just want to keep these results coming. That's all we're focused on."
Baggies chairman John Williams said that Dawson’s new deal was another important element of future planning during current transfer window.
Williams said: "Craig has been incredibly consistent for us and thoroughly deserves his new contract.
"It is also good the club has been able to protect a player who is such an important asset to us.
"At this time of year, the focus is inevitably on the comings and goings but an important part of the job is keeping the squad secure.
"Craig follows Hal (Robson-Kanu) as a second senior squad member to have his contract extended."
