The 31-year-old missed the Baggies trip to Hong Kong for the Premier League Asia Trophy due to a bereavement but will feature at either Burton or Walsall.

Boss Tony Pulis will split his squad for the games, which are both scheduled to kick-off at 7.45pm, as the club resume their preparations for the new Premier League campaign on home soil.

Jonny Evans is also expected to feature after making a swift recovery from the ankle injury which saw his early withdrawal from Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Far East.

Fellow centre-back Gareth McAuley is again likely to be the only high-profile absentee. The 37-year-old is yet to feature during pre-season as he continues to recover from a thigh injury sustained while away on international duty with Northern Ireland earlier in the summer.

After the bright lights of Hong Kong, the next phase of pre-season will see Albion in more traditional surroundings with a series of fixtures against lower league and non-league opposition.

Pulis takes his team to Bristol Rovers, the club where he began his playing career, this Saturday. Albion will also send a side to Slough, while a third double-header follows next Tuesday when the squad will be split between Port Vale and Kidderminster.

The Baggies complete their pre-season campaign on the continent when they head to Deportivo on Saturday week.
