Work has started today on a five-week project relaying the part-grass, part-artificial turf at the stadium.

To aid familiarity, the same ‘Desso’ pitch will also be put in place at the club’s training facility in Walsall, just like it has been for the past couple of years.

Together, the pitches cost £75,000, and they are being laid alongside a wider refurbishment of the training ground.

A £250,000 project which got underway as soon as the season ended will see the interior of the canteen, dressing rooms, and offices all modernised.

The club plan to spend more next summer on expanding the training ground and developing the sports science department.

This summer, there will be artwork installed in the concourse of The Hawthorns, where the East Stand is being given a makeover.

The Garden of Remembrance in the bottom corner of the Smethwick End by Millennium Corner is also being extended and the club are upgrading their disabled access throughout the stadium.
