The Baggies will join top flight rivals Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Leicester as they make their debut in the tournament, which will played at the Hong Kong Stadium on Wednesday July 19 and Saturday July 22.

It’s the first time the biennial tournament will feature four Premier League clubs while for Albion the trip will mark their return to the Far East 39 years after their historic, ground-breaking venture, when they became the first professional club to tour China.

The club’s participation was already expected and while the precise schedule of games is still to be announced, the venue and kick-off times are confirmed – each day hosting two games kicking off at 6.30pm and 8.30pm local time. Ticket details will be announced early next month.

This year’s tournament will be the eighth Premier League Asia Trophy and Albion are joined by Palace and Leicester in taking their bow. It will be Liverpool’s second appearance, having first competed in 2007.

The Premier League Asia Trophy is part of the league’s ongoing commitment to fans in Asia, aimed at supporting the development of football at all levels in Hong Kong and across the region.

A full programme of community and football development initiatives, including a Premier Skills referee development training course, an elite level referee management symposium and community coaching workshops, run in partnership with the Hong Kong Football Association, will be held alongside the tournament.

Ticketing information for fans will be announced in early June. Tickets will be sold per match day (19 July, 22 July) with each ticket allowing access to both matches on that day.

Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore said: “In Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion we have a group of excellent clubs, players and managers who will give local fans a fantastic Premier League experience.”
