With West Brom's last day trip to Swansea fast approaching, we decided to look back at some of the notable games to involve Albion on the last day in recent years.

West Brom 2-0 Portsmouth - 2004/5

Where else could we start?

Going into the final day of the Premier League season, not a single team was assured of relegation. But having been bottom of the table on Christmas Day, Bryan Robson's Albion side also started the final match day in the same position, fighting for their survival alongside Southampton, Crystal Palace and Norwich.

Geoff Horsfield gave Robson's side the lead on the 58th minute, lifting Albion out of the drop zone momentarily, however results elsewhere saw the Baggies drop back into the mire.

Kieran Richardson added a second at The Hawthorns, but the real magic happened in Crystal Palace's trip to Charlton, when a Jonathan Fortune header levelled proceedings there, saving West Brom with minutes remaining.

As the full-time whistle blew in West Bromwich, fans were left waiting for the end of play at The Valley - and as news spread of the final result, celebration was sparked for the Albion faithful.

Still widely recognised as the greatest escape in Premier League history, it was a day that will long live in the memory for Baggies fans young and old.

QPR 0-2 West Brom - 2007/8

From the joy of survival to the jubilation of winning the title, West Brom's 2-0 victory at QPR on the final day of the 07/08 season saw the Baggies named winners of the Championship.

With their automatic promotion all but secured, West Brom could claim top spot by simply equalling Stoke City's result as long as it was a draw or better, due to their superior goal difference - and they did it with style.

Do-Heon Kim's header got the ball rolling on the 53rd minute, whilst Chris Brunt's stunning free-kick topped things off for Albion, who were facing ten men after Martin Rowlands' sending off in the first half.

The victory not only secured their place in the top flight, but also gave Tony Mowbray's side their first trophy for 40 years.

West Brom 1-1 Barnsley - 2009/10

Whilst not quite as emphatic as the win two years prior, the 1-1 draw against Barnsley once again topped off a promotion season at The Hawthorns - this time under Roberto Di Matteo.

In a game more memorable for its poor finishing, Graham Dorrans produced a last minute equaliser to keep the fans cheering into the Premier League.

In truth, the Tykes should've been out of sight in the dead rubber with the side failing to add to Hugo Colace's 59th minute opener.

However, off a Roman Bednar ball, Scotland international Dorrans levelled the score with the last kick of the game - cueing celebrations on the final day despite promotion being secured weeks before.

3-0 down with 48 minutes gone on the final day of the season, you wouldn't expect much of a comeback with nothing to play for - but not with West Brom.

With strikes from Steven Taylor, Peter Lovenkrands and a Jonas Olsson own goal gifting the Magpies a 3-0 advantage, it took a superb Somen Tchoyi hat-trick to silence the St. James's Park crowd.

Bagging his first with less than half an hour remaining, Tchoyi claimed his second on the 71st minute before completing his hat-trick with a minute to play.

The draw saw West Brom finish a single place ahead of their last day opponents, ending the season 11th under Roy Hodgson.

West Brom 5-5 Manchester United - 2012/13

Who can forget this one?

In Sir Alex Ferguson's 1500th and final game in charge of Manchester United, the Red Devils and West Brom battled out a stunning 5-5 draw at The Hawthorns.

United took a 3-0 lead thanks to Shinji Kagawa, Alexander Buttner and a Jonas Olsson own goal - but it wasn't to be as simple as that.

Strikes from James Morrison and Romelu Lukaku helped slice the deficit, before Robin Van Persie and Janier Hernandez seemed to secure three points for United.

However, three goals in five minuted tarnished Fergie's final game as boss, with Lukaku bagging his hat-trick whilst Yousouff Mulumbu also got on the scoresheet.

The draw secured an eighth placed finish for Steve Clarke's side, Albion's highest finish in the Premier League.
