Jamie Vardy’s 43rd minute strike earned the Foxes victory at The Hawthorns and inflicted a sixth loss in eight games on the Baggies.

Albion have now failed to score in five consecutive league games for the first time in their history and Pulis felt the breaks did not go his team’s way.

“I'm disappointed for the players again because I thought we worked really hard,” said the boss.

“We've talked all week about Vardy and the changeover. They play that ball very quickly for him to run into space and we got caught.

“The reaction of the players, especially second half was first class. We need a break.

“That was their only shot on target, I think we had 16.

“And we had opportunities to shoot more and get more crosses in. We're getting up in the final third, we just need a break.”

Vardy pounced after a mistake by Salomon Rondon but though Albion built plenty of pressure, particularly during the second half, they rarely tested Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Chris Brunt’s first half header, which the keeper tipped over the bar, was the closest they came to scoring.

Albion remain eighth in the table but face a battle to keep that spot over the final four games. They still need six points to reach the 50-point mark for the first time in the Premier League.

Pulis added: “The players are a great group of lads.

“No one is more disappointed than them in the dressing room at the moment.

“We've got to pick them up and make sure they're ready. There are still four games and 12 points to play for.”
