FIFA expected to update West Brom over Allan Nyom dispute on Friday
FIFA are expected to tell Albion on Friday whether they can or cannot play Allan Nyom against Sunderland this weekend.
The governing body have been called in to rule on a dispute between the Baggies and the Cameroon FA over Nyom's eligibility for his club during the African Cup of Nations.
Both Nyom and Liverpool defender Joel Matip informed their country they did not wish to participate in the tournament and then neither player was named in Hugo Broos' 23-man squad.
But the Cameroon FA have not provided Albion or Liverpool with written approval that their players can feature, and so neither team has taken the risk of playing them.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wanted to name Matip in tonight's squad for their third round replay against Plymouth Argyle, before being advised not to.
FIFA are expected to give an update to both Liverpool and Albion this Friday, but if they rule in Cameroon's favour and Broos' team reach the final then Nyom will miss a further three games and won't be available until the trip to West Ham on February 11.
The 28-year-old full-back has already missed two games, both of which Albion lost.
