Tony Pulis says West Brom 'have to bring a few in' this January
Tony Pulis says Albion have to make additions to their threadbare squad this January after missing out on Morgan Schneiderlin and losing Craig Gardner.
Schneiderlin completed his move to Everton today while Gardner has joined Birmingham City on loan.
Albion have also loaned out Callum McManaman to Sheffield Wednesday this window, while long-term target Jeff Schlupp is reportedly joining Crystal Palace.
"It would be nice if we could bring a few in," said Pulis. "Obviously with Craig going out, and one or two others might go out, you look at our squad and we have to bring a few in.
"We're very disappointed we missed out on Schneiderlin, but he's picked Everton for all sorts of reasons. We just move on, try and get the players in that we need."
Albion made three bids for Schlupp in the summer ranging from £9m to £12m. Schlupp was eager to join up with Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns this window, but the Daily Telegraph are reporting the 24-year-old is now in talks with Palace over a possible £12m move to Selhurst Park.
Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri, who blocked Albion's move in the summer, has opened the door for Schlupp to leave.
"Of course he's not happy," said Ranieri. "I said if wants to go, he can go but it's also important to get the right money for the club."
It appears the right money was £12m and Palace, who have lost Wilfried Zaha to the African Cup of Nations, have matched that total.
Meanwhile, Palace boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Christian Benteke is not for sale.
Pulis was interested in the former Aston Villa striker in the summer, although the Express & Star understands rumours of a possible swap deal with Saido Berahino were speculative.
And Allardyce was adamant the £27m striker was going nowhere.
"Unless the chairman knows any different from me, Christian Benteke is not for sale," he said. "I think he'll be available for this weekend.
"I'm planning on him being here at the end of this window. He's scored eight goals already and he's got a big part to play."
