Ben Foster: Now let's keep West Brom clean sheets

Albion may have lost just two games out of their last 10, but they've only had one shut-out during that run.

That's in stark contrast to last season, when the Baggies had the best defensive record outside the top six, and kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League.

You won't hear many supporters complaining too much, considering it has coincided with much more joy at the other end of the pitch, but Foster is hurt by every single goal he concedes.

"Some of the goals we've let in have been little scruffy goals," he said. "When we played Sunderland a few weeks back, they scored with 10 minutes to go, then Hull scored with 20 minutes to go. We've had a few like that."

The 33-year-old is in fine form at the moment, epitomised by his clawing save to stop Gareth McAuley inadvertently scoring an own goal against Watford last weekend. And it's not like Albion are shipping goals for fun.

They've only conceded more than one goal on four occasions in the league this season, and that was against Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and West Ham.

But the Baggies seem to be letting one goal sneak through the banks more often than not. Foster is understandably eager for Albion to return to their miserly ways, but not if it means sacrificing the attacking verve the team has shown in recent weeks.

Clean sheets are preferable but winning is even more important, and it's the equalising goals that sting more than those that don't affect the outcome of the game.

"I suppose it's just concentration when you're 1-0 up and the team's chasing it," said Foster. "They're going to be throwing everything at us, so you expect to have a bit of an onslaught.

"I think in general we're all quite happy with the way we're doing at the minute."
