The 28-year-old full-back joined Albion from the Hornets on deadline day of the summer transfer window for £3million.

Having been taunted by the Watford fans throughout the game, Nyom took great pleasure in celebrating the victory in front of the visiting supporters after the Baggies beat Walter Mazzarri's side 3-1 at The Hawthorns.

But today he issued an apology directly to the club on Twitter.

"I just want to apologise to Watford FC fans because, unfortunately, it seems that my celebration during the Saturday game was considered as a lack of respect," he said.

"Sincerely, it was never my intention to disrespect the club or the fans, and I apologize to them if they have felt it. In my heart there is only gratitude and my best wishes for all Watford FC family."

Nyom joined the Baggies as a right-back but has been used by Tony Pulis to plug his left-gap problem after Everton loanee Brendan Galloway lost his place.

After a shaky start to life at The Hawthorns, Nyom has improved as each week passes and particularly impressed in the last two games away at Hull and at home to Watford.

However, the Baggies will have to deal without the Cameroon international next month when he leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Pulis said: "He's been a smashing signing for the football club. When we signed him everybody at Watford gave him a lot of praise for being a good lad.

"He has a point to prove out there every week. It's always nice to win against your old club but it's no different to any other game for me."
