Incoming chief executive Martin Goodman is a 'good appointment' for West Brom, says Tony Pulis
Tony Pulis has hailed Albion's incoming chief executive Martin Goodman as a good appointment.
The head coach worked alongside Goodman at Stoke, where Mark Jenkins' successor has been Head of Finance for the past five years.
Albion's new chief executive starts on January 1, when the transfer window opens, and Pulis is looking forward to working with him.
"I think it's a good appointment for the club," said Pulis. "He's a good man, he's been at Blackburn and Stoke and he knows (chairman) John Williams very well so their relationship is good.
"I've spoken to him a couple of times, he knows the job and he will get on with it.
"He's very diligent and very hard working."
Stoke have been praised in recent years for their cheap season tickets and free away travel for supporters to every Premier League game, which they have offered for the past four seasons.
"I don't know whether Martin was making those decisions," said Pulis. "I don't think any decision is made at Stoke without the Coates family.
"But if he can bring that vitality here then brilliant. I'm really pleased that he's been appointed."
Goodman's arrival comes after Jenkins announced he was leaving the club after 14 years.
"Mark has been fantastic for me," said Pulis. "He's a wonderful lad. He's held the purse strings at this football club very tightly over a period of time.
"But my relationship with Mark was first class and I wish him all the best.
"I'm sure him and his wife will have a great time now he hasn't got the responsibility of keeping this ship steady."
