Brendan Galloway is fighting hard for his West Brom place
Brendan Galloway has promised to fight hard for his Albion place in order to squeeze as much as he can out of his spell at The Hawthorns.
The 20-year-old defender is on a season-long loan from Everton, but he's recently lost his spot in the starting line-up to deadline day signing Allan Nyom.
Galloway impressed in the opening game of his Albion career at home to Middlesbrough, and looked dangerous going forward. But his positioning was shaky at times against Bournemouth and West Ham, and head coach Tony Pulis is currently trying out right-back Nyom at left-back.
However, the Zimbabwe-born defender is not giving up his spot that easily, because he sees this loan as a great opportunity to earn valuable Premier League experience.
"I'm going to try and work my hardest to get back in the team because that's where I want to be," said Galloway. "I want to be playing week in week out for West Brom."
Despite his current spell on the sidelines, Galloway is enjoying his time in the Black Country.
"I'm working with a really good manager and a really good bunch of players so for my development, it's perfect," he said.
It's been a fruitful international break. As well as playing for England under-21s in Kazakhstan last week, he completed 90 minutes for the Young Lions yesterday in a 5-0 rout of Bosnia & Herzegovina Under-21s at Walsall's Banks's Stadium.
"I enjoyed it, nice to qualify unbeaten and when you win 5-0 it's always going to be nice," he said.
"You want to play every game and you want to work your hardest. I managed to do that and played in both games and win them.
"It's good to finish the campaign off unbeaten and now we have confidence to go to Poland next summer."
England have qualified for next summer's Euros unbeaten and top of their group, and Galloway reckons the team have a strong chance of winning the whole tournament.
"We have a great country and we have a great group of players," he said. "There's going to be a lot of competition and there's going to be a lot of fighting for places but if everybody gives 100 per cent then we can go all the way."
