Torquay boss: West Brom's Chay Tilt has bright future

Albion youngster Chay Tilt has got a bright future ahead of him according to Torquay United player-manager Kevin Nicholson.

The 19-year-old winger, who recently changed his name from Chay Scrivens for family reasons, has been recalled from his six-month loan at the National League side over lack of game time.

"Chay is a good young player but I didn't feel like we were giving him enough minutes here," said Nicholson.

"It's not fair on him and it certainly isn't fair on West Brom as they've lent him here and he's not getting the minutes that he needed to improve.

"I think he's got a future; he's a bright little player, but it just didn't quite work out for him here."

Torquay, who beat Albion 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at the start of August, are short on players at the moment after a number of injuries.

Tilt made seven league appearances for the Gulls but all of them were from the bench.

"He probably would have been in with a shout for next week but it's not going to happen now so we'll go and put some work in somewhere else," said Nicholson.
