Allan Nyom learning lots from West Brom boss Tony Pulis
Summer signing Allan Nyom says he's already learned a lot from Albion head coach Tony Pulis.
The 28-year-old started his first game for the Baggies against Stoke at the weekend, replacing Brendan Galloway at left-back after the Everton loanee was struck down with a virus.
And the deadline day £3million signing from Watford impressed at the Bet365 Stadium in an unfamiliar left-side role.
But the French-born Cameroon international says the dogged defensive performance was down to his new boss.
"I have already learnt a lot from Tony Pulis," he said. "He is a very experienced manager and he can teach you plenty of things. It's important to listen to him.
"I was happy to start in the first XI and I tried to give my best.
"Sometimes in football you have to play in another position. You have to adapt quickly.
"You will have to ask the gaffer if I have done enough to keep my place in the team but every game I play I will always give my best."
Nyom showed potential in Stoke of being an exciting, athletic full-back with the ability to burst up and down the wing.
That will be a welcome sight to Albion fans who are used to Pulis crowbarring centre-backs Jonny Evans and Craig Dawson in at full-back.
"If I see the space I will always try to attack," said Nyom. "I think the first thing as a defender is try to defend but if you can also get forward then that is good."
The right-back has been at the club for less than a month but he's already gelled with several members of the Albion squad.
"I talk a lot to everyone," he said. "I talk a little but more with Nacer Chadli, Claudio Yacob and Salomon Rondon because I can speak French and Spanish. The group is very good and I enjoy being here."
The 6ft 2in defender is delighted his new Venezuelan pal bagged an equaliser on Saturday.
"He is important to us because he is a very good striker," said Nyom. "He has a lot of confidence at the moment so that is good for us.
"One point is always good away and it's good when it is against a good team like Stoke City."
