West Brom's amazing Allan Nyom is impressing Claudio Yacob

New full-back Allan Nyom is 'physically amazing', according to midfield team-mate Claudio Yacob.

Albion's deadline day signing started his first game for the Baggies away at Stoke at the weekend, coming in for Brendan Galloway at left-back after the Everton loanee was ruled out with a virus that also struck down Saido Berahino.

Nyom is predominantly a right-sided defender, but the £3million full-back who joined from Watford impressed in the unfamiliar position.

Powerful, pacy, and two inches taller than six foot, he's a typical Tony Pulis player.

Yacob, who is one of the jokers in the squad, has welcomed both Nyom and fellow new signing Nacer Chadli into the club with open arms.

And the Argentinian wasn't surprised to see the 28-year-old bombing up and down the left wing with purpose on Saturday.

"I saw him in training, physically he's amazing," said Yacob. "Left-back is not his natural position but he did very well. Typical (Pulis player) yes, a strong player with good feet, and he's important for the group too."

French speakers Nyom and Chadli have forged an early friendship with the full-back tweeting a picture of the pair alongside the words 'Avec mon gars,' which translates to 'with my guy' in English.

And the pair have also bonded with Yacob and Salomon Rondon, filling the gap in the squad's South American group left by Cristian Gamboa.

Yacob reckons it's important to integrate new signings as quickly as possible, because the squad has a strong cohesion off the pitch.

"We try to help each other," he said. "We try to get the team as a group. I think the team is important both on the pitch and off it."

Chadli's on-pitch relationship with Rondon is one that looks incredibly promising after the pair linked up for two goals against West Ham.

Yacob says Baggies boss Tony Pulis is working hard on the training ground to develop that partnership.

"He's a very important for us, but more important for Salomon," said the midfield destroyer. "He's got a good connection. This is what the gaffer tries to do, get the connection between him and Salomon."

Rondon already has three goals from the first six league games of the season, and his South American pal says the Venezuelan's form is crucial.

"It's massive for us," he said. "When he scores he gets a lot of confidence so it's important for the team if he's happy. If he scores, it's massive."

Yacob was also impressive against Stoke - particularly in the first half. And his form comes after Pulis was looking at defensive midfielders in the transfer window.

"I did a good job, always thinking of the team," he said. "I tried to get my feet in where I could."
