Jonny Evans: West Brom will target Stoke full-backs

Jonny Evans reckons Albion can target Stoke's full-backs tomorrow in the same way they did against West Ham, and he's predicted another open game.

Last weekend, Baggies boss Tony Pulis rested central midfielder Sam Field in favour of more width, and it was a tactic that paid off.

Both James McClean and Matt Phillips enjoyed themselves on the wings against the Hammers' isolated full-backs, and helped Albion to an eventful 4-2 victory.

Evans says the Potters, who have conceded four goals in three of their opening five games, play in a similar way.

"The play in a way West Ham play," he said. "The wingers don't always track back.

"They leave Arnautovic and Shaqiri on the counter-attack and rely on their defence heavily.

"It could make for an open game and you might see that."

Stoke used to be Albion's bogey team until Pulis joined the club.

Since his arrival, the Baggies have won three out three games against his former club.

"We were very good against them last year," said Evans.

"The game against Stoke at home last year was probably one of our best performances. We beat them 2-1.

"Although they went down to ten men, our intensity in the game and the way we played was very good.

"Hopefully we can take that up their next week.

"The manager is going back to his old club and I'm sure he'll be desperate to beat them as well."
