Harry Redknapp aims swipe at former West Brom man Dan Ashworth
Harry Redknapp has taken a swipe at former West Brom man and current FA technical director Dan Ashworth.
Ashworth is on the three-person panel who will pick the new England boss after Roy Hodgson – who he worked with at the Baggies – resigned after Monday night's humiliating defeat to Iceland.
Redknapp said: "We've got the farcical situation of Dan Ashworth picking the next England manager and I'm really not sure about his credentials either.
"It appears that anyone connected with West Brom seems to have a chance."
The former Spurs boss was overlooked by the FA in favour of Hodgson back in 2012, but he ruled himself out of the running this time around.
"You can count me out - I've made it clear how I'd have liked the job in the past but they aren't going to consider me now," said Redknapp.
"The FA are seriously going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat because there don't seem to be any obvious contenders out there."
During his five years as Albion's technical director, Ashworth secured impressive bargain signings like Youssouf Mulumbu, Peter Odemwingie and Claudio Yacob, helping the club win promotion to the Premier League before finishing 11th and 10th in the top tier.
Redknapp resigned from his last job in the Premier League in February 2015, leaving QPR second-bottom with 19 points from 23 games.
