Darren Fletcher: West Brom up for an upset

Captain Darren Fletcher has told West Brom to tap into the excitement of the title race and cause an upset at White Hart Lane.

Albion's skipper won four Premier League titles with former club Manchester United and featured in crucial games during various run-ins.

With all eyes focused on the Baggies' visit to Tottenham tonight, he's urged the team to step up to the challenge of party-poopers.

Fletcher said: "You want to be in the spotlight. You want to be involved in big games that people are watching.

"Every player responds to that challenge, for me it was always the bigger the game the greater the excitement, this is where I want to be.

"Tapping into that is really important for the players. I know everybody says we've reached 40 points already.

"Maybe that's enabled us to go and enjoy these games a little bit more with a little less pressure. But at the same time we want to go and show what we're capable of as a team."

The Baggies have picked up just one point in their last five games and have lost three in a row since hitting the 40-point mark.

In fact, pressure from disgruntled fans is starting to build as the season fizzles out with a whimper.

Head coach Tony Pulis is demanding a response from his players after last Thursday's 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Pulis said: "That was our most disappointing performance, Arsenal deserved to win because we looked flat.

"We didn't do very well on Thursday, we have to dust ourselves down and put a performance in on Monday."

The Welshman is looking forward to taking his Albion team to White Hart Lane for the first time, but it's a ground that's been kind to the Baggies in recent years.

Albion have only lost one of their last five visits there. Pulis said: "White Hart Lane is one of my favourite grounds, it's a fantastic stadium with a great atmosphere.

"Everything to do with the club is first class."
