Jonny Evans' injury poses Albion problems

A hamstring injury to defender Jonny Evans has boss Tony Pulis facing a defensive headache ahead of West Brom's trip to Newcastle.

Evans is expected to miss around a fortnight, after limping out of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Swansea.

The 28-year-old had spent the past two Premier League games deputising at left-back in place of the injured Chris Brunt.

With the latter still struggling to shake off a calf problem, it means Pulis will be forced into a defensive reshuffle at St James's Park on Saturday.

Sebastien Pocognoli could be one option but the Belgium international has never started a Premier League game under Pulis, who instead may call on James McClean to take on defensive duties.

Baggies assistant head coach Dave Kemp said: "Everybody gets injuries but we've got some important players out now.

"We've already got (James) Morrison out, we've got Brunt out, we haven't got a big squad when you compare the teams we're playing against.

"We have to try and keep everybody fit and that's what we're trying to do."
