Ally Robertson: Time to show Saints what we're made of

With the fallout from what did or didn't happen during the transfer window now starting to subside, it's time for Albion to get back to action against Southampton this weekend.

Having managed to build a bit of a platform with the win at Stoke last time out, the next run of games represents a chance for us to kick on.

It's time we started taking the game to the opposition.

The win over Stoke was precious yet the performance wasn't the greatest, I think we can all agree on that.

Saturday's game now feels like a chance to set our stall out and say: This is us.

No disrespect to Southampton, who are a good team, but they are certainly a less daunting proposition than Manchester City or Chelsea, who we faced in our opening two home league games.

There were enough signs against the latter of how Albion can look as an attacking force.

We were just lacking a bit of luck here and there on the day.

On Saturday, for the first time at home in the league this season, the onus will be on Albion to make the running and I am sure that is the message Tony Pulis will have been trying to get over to his players this week.

Of course, you don't want to throw the game away and leave yourself

open at the back but there has to be a desire to go out and win the game and get on the front foot right from the get-go.

Home form is always key and it will be no different this season. It's also where most fans get to see the team and it is important they see we are going in the right way.

You look at the next few fixtures – Southampton followed by the derby with Villa and Everton at home – and it seems a good chance for the Baggies to find some momentum.

Albion's internationals will have returned to training today in differing moods no doubt after a weekend which was good for all the home nations except Scotland, though obviously I don't want to talk too much about that!

It was great to see Northern Ireland stay on course for next summer's European Championships, with Gareth McAuley getting two goals in their victory over the Faroe Islands.

With Chris Brunt and Jonny Evans also part of the team, the trio should have returned in good spirits and hopefully they can carry the form into the next few games for Albion.
