The Baggies have not been handed an away game on the opening day of a season since 2010, when Roberto Di Matteo's newly-promoted side were hammered 6-0 at Chelsea.
Since then they have had four opening-day home game with the most famous being the 3-0 win over Liverpool in 2012 in Steve Clarke's first game in charge, writes Steve Madeley.
They were beaten 2-1 at home by Manchester United in 2011 and 1-0 by Southampton in 2013.
And last season Alan Irvine's ill-fated reign began with a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland, with Saido Berahino scoring twice.
