Villa just like Barcelona ...the Kammy classics!

Sky Sports' resident jester Chris Kamara amused viewers again by comparing Tim Sherwood's improving but struggling Villa with, of all teams, Barcelona.

The channel's most amusing pundit seemed to make the comparison in all seriousness, although it might have seemed like a bit of a stretch to viewers.

Steve Madeley takes a look at five other 'Kammy classics'.

1 - The former Bradford manager has been known to miss a red card or two during his 'in vision' appearances on Soccer Saturday, but he is also capable of conjuring up odd explanations for dismissals. Former Wolves captain Karl Henry was once given his marching orders with Kamara quick to elaborate on the reasons to Sky viewers. "Karl Henry's been sent off for a deliberate red card," he said.

2 - One of Kammy's chief duties alongside host Ben Shephard on Sky's Goals on Sunday is to analyse the reasons for the concession of goals. But there are times when the reasons for his management career never really taking off seem rather obvious, especially when he tries to explain himself to viewers as he might have had to in a dressing room. "The area you're trying to protect at corners is the goal," he once famously said.

Claim – Paul Merson

3 - Football punditry is littered with famous examples of 'Colemanballs' but Kammy is up there with former Express & Star columnist Paul Merson and ex-Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle in the Hall of Fame. And, like most former players who turn to the media to earn a living post-retirement, there are times when he engages his mouth before engaging his brain, as two former Albion players discovered when Kamara was analysing a goal.

"Nicky Shorey is the provider but Shane Long has made this all on his own," said rather confused Kammy, clearly struggling to grasp the concept of an 'assist'.

4 - If English isn't one of Kammy's strong points, then geography is not a real strength either, it would seem.

He does manage to find his way to Premier League stadia up and down England, so he clearly has a fully functioning sat-nav. But when he has to look further afield, it seems the former midfielder gets a little confused.

"Is it still called Calcutta?" he once asked. "I thought it was Bombay these days."

5 - OK, he isn't great at expressing himself or locating cities in India, so it seems a little harsh to point out his weakness when it comes to spatial awareness, too.

It is a time-honoured tradition for 'end-to-end' football matches to involve the ball crossing the halfway line, but in the world of Kamara there is a new phenomenon known as a 'real end-to-end' encounter, which is something a bit different.

"It's real end-to-end stuff, but unfortunately it's all up at Forest's end," he once told baffled viewers.
