Claudio Yacob is West Brom's unsung hero

West Brom boss Tony Pulis believes midfielder Claudio Yacob can be his unsung hero after the Argentinian was recalled to the starting line-up.

The 27-year-old made only his sixth Premier League appearance of the season in the 1-0 win over Hull City and Pulis was delighted with his tigerish display.

He said: "When I was at other clubs, Claudio was always a player that I rated highly. Since I have come here, his attitude around the place has been absolutely top-drawer.

"I thought he did well in the game on Saturday and I think he has an important part to play.

"What he does isn't always glamorous, but he does a good job for the team and I was really pleased with him."

Pulis was also pleased with the performance of £10million signing Brown Ideye although the striker missed a golden chance, dragging a shot wide with only goalkeeper Allan McGregor to beat.

The Baggies chief said: "I thought he worked really hard. It would have been great if he could have got that goal to go with the performance.

"But he has been great in training since and his finishing has been good. The transfer fee certainly doesn't help with the pressure, but he has done well since I've been here.

"Now he just needs a goal to get him going. Hopefully he can get it soon."

Meanwhile, Jonas Olsson hopes to be back in action by the end of the month.

The Sweden international underwent a minor procedure on his left heel at the end of November to ease pressure on his Achilles tendon.

He said: "I feel good. I had a bit of bone shaved off on my left heel - to ease the Achilles. It's quite a common procedure.

"They smoothened the bone out so hopefully it will make the Achilles move better.

"I'm just happy that I'm able to do more rehab and get closer to full fitness."
