West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster out for 12 weeks with fracture
Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster will be sidelined for up to 12 weeks after scans revealed a stress fracture of a bone in his right foot.
Foster, who limped out of Saturday's goalless draw at Everton after 77 minutes, could miss up to nine Premier League matches as well as England's four World Cup qualifiers in September and October.
But Baggies boss Steve Clarke today hinted he will not dip into the transfer market for a new gloveman, meaning Wales international Boaz Myhill will take over goalkeeping duties with Luke Daniels as his deputy.
Myhill is back in training after missing the trip to Everton with a wrist injury.
Clarke said: "There's no hiding the fact this is disappointing news as Ben is a key player for us. He was excellent on Saturday before his injury forced him off.
"In the meantime, I've got two other very good goalkeepers to choose from.
"Boaz did well when he deputised for Ben last season and Luke showed on Saturday he is a more than capable goalkeeper."
The news will also come as a blow to England manager and former Albion boss Roy Hodgson, who has seen Three Lions No.1 Joe Hart make several mistakes already this season.
And it is a setback to Foster, who returned to the international fold last season and had emerged as the next man in the pecking order after Hart.
