West Brom consider moves for two strikers

West Brom are considering a move for Colombia international striker Macnelly Torres – with former Watford loan star Matej Vydra also believed to be on their radar.

The Baggies are keeping tabs on 'No 10' Torres as they plot a revamp of their forward line for next season.

And they are among several clubs to register in interest in Vydra, who is keen on a permanent move to England from Italian side Udinese after impressing for the Hornets last season.

Torres, aged 28, is eyeing a move to England late in his career ahead of a probable appearance in next summer's World Cup in Brazil, where he hopes to partner £50million Monaco ace Radamel Falcao in attack.

Torres has convinced current club Atletico Nacional to loan him out next season and that could bring the Baggies into the running, although Everton and several other clubs have expressed an interest.

The 5ft 7in Torres has spent his entire career in South America and is known as a creative 'second striker'. He has three goals in 31 appearances for Colombia.

He is one of several players being tracked as the Hawthorns hierarchy weigh up their options following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and the possible exits of Peter Odemwingie and Markus Rosenberg.

Another is Vydra, who hit 20 goals for Watford last season during a successful season-long loan.

The 21-year-old has told Udinese he wants to return to England and the Italian club are prepared to sanction a further loan with a fee, after none of the bids for a permanent deal met their valuation.

Agent Ondrej Chovanec is due in England next week to meet with interested parties and he said: "Udinese don't want to sell him for £8million.

"They have given us freedom to discuss loan spells with Premier League clubs that are interested.

"At the moment, we have offers from four Premier League clubs – West Brom, West Ham, Swansea and Sunderland."
