Ben Foster: West Brom can't keep Lukaku
West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster today claimed Chelsea would be "fools" to loan out Romelu Lukaku again after the striker ended his loan with an historic hat-trick.
Lukaku netted a 36-minute 'perfect' treble – a goal with his right foot, one with his left and then a bizarre header.
The Baggies battled back from 3-0 and 5-2 down to claim a remarkable 5-5 draw against Manchester United in Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement match.
And Foster admitted he fears the worst for the club's hopes of keeping the Belgium international, although Lukaku hailed West Brom for "relaunching" his career.
Hawthorns head coach Steve Clarke has refused to give up on another loan, but Foster said: "There's no way he's coming back here next season.
"Chelsea would be fools to let him come back with the way their forward line is misfiring.
"He is exactly what they need at the minute. He was unplayable. As soon as he came on you could see that United were scared of him.
"He scored a hat-trick and we drew the game 5-5 so it was a fitting send-off."
Lukaku bagged the first hat-trick of his professional career to take his season's tally to 17 goals and break Peter Odemwingie's 15-goal record for a Baggies player in a Premier League season.
The 20-year-old's future is now uncertain. He said: "It is out of my hands now.
"I will go to the internationals, go on holiday with my friends and my missus and come back and train hard with my dad and then go to pre-season with Chelsea.
"We will see what happens. This club will always have a place in my heart. It's the club that put me in the spotlight and re-launched my career."
Clarke will await news from Stamford Bridge, where his friend Jose Mourinho is hotly-tipped to return as manager.
The Baggies boss said: "Rom will go back to Chelsea and, if Chelsea decide to let him out again on loan, I hope we have got a really good chance of bringing him back here."
