Old pals' act could aid Steve Clarke says West Brom legend Cyrille Regis
Albion legend Cyrille Regis today urged boss Steve Clarke to call on his famous managerial mentors as he looks to halt the Baggies' Premier League slide.
The Baggies head for Liverpool on Monday looking to end an eight-game winless run in all competitions and a mid-season slump in form which has seen them slide from third place to mid-table.
Clarke was No.2 to Mourinho at Chelsea and spent 18 months assisting Dalglish at Anfield.
Former striker Regis said: "Albion have lost momentum over the last six or seven games.
"This is a big testing point for Steve Clarke.
"I'm sure he's got mentors that he can call on in Jose Mourinho, Kenny Dalglish and a few others.
"So hopefully he can turn around and say 'I'm in a rut now, what do I do?'
"I hope he turns it around quite quickly.
"But this is the testing point – when things are going badly – of his management skills."
"I'm hoping – because he has been an inspired choice whose team has played some great football – that this will be the point when his management skills will come to the fore."
