James Morrison's dramatic last-minute equaliser gave West Bromwich Albion the point that equals their best ever Premier League tally.

The Baggies had trailed 2-0 to a Martin Petrov penalty and a bizarre Billy Jones own-goal but Chris Brunt gave them hope before substitute Morrison fired them level on his return from a six-week injury lay-off.

It gave Roy Hodgson an enjoyable end to his first game since being confirmed as the new England manager.

Bolton had early chances when Chris Eagles blasted into the side-netting from distance and Petrov's long-range effort was palmed away without conviction by Ben Foster.

Kevin Davies missed a glorious chance for the hosts, blasting over the bar from close range after Petrov had picked him out at the far post.

But the Baggies had the better of the opening exchanges and Gareth McAuley headed a good chance into a crowd of players from a corner before Chris Brunt failed to connect properly with a neat Marc-Antoine Fortune pass.

And on 19 minutes Shane Long rattled the post with a good shot on the turn. But on 24 minutes the hosts went ahead when Youssouf Mulumbu's clumsy challenge felled Mark Davies and Petrov blasted the resulting penalty into the bottom corner.

In the closing stages of the half Eagles saw another long-range effort fly off-target before Fortune shot over from Jonas Olsson's diagonal ball.

Liam Ridgewell was denied at the near post by Adam Bogdan after a powerful overlapping run.

At the other end Ben Foster made a fabulous reaction save to keep out a Kevin Davies header. But he could do nothing to prevent a bizarre own-goal that made it 2-0 as Ridgewell's attempted clearance from Petrov's left-wing cross struck Jones and looped in.

Three minutes later, however, Brunt gave Albion hope when he fired home from the edge of the box after a sweeping move down the right and a Shane Long pull-back.

And the comeback was complete in the final seconds of normal time when Albion forced Bolton back into their penalty area and Simon Cox wriggled free of the defenders to pick out fellow substitute Morrison, who made no mistake.
