West Brom assistant boss Michael Appleton was today appointed the new manager of Championship club Portsmouth.
The 35-year-old former Baggies midfielder has signed a three-and-a-half year deal to follow Steve Cotterill as Pompey's new chief.
A press conference has been called for this afternoon to unveil Appleton, who is taking his first steps in management.
Both clubs have been in talks for several days over compensation, but an agreement has now been reached.
West Brom boss Roy Hodgson revealed earlier this week that there are no plans to appoint a successor to Appleton, who was at the Hawthorns for almost a decade as player and coach.
