Owen Hargreaves joins Man City

The slim hopes of Albion landing Owen Hargreaves have ended after the free agent signed a one-year contract at Manchester City.

The Baggies were resigned to losing out on the former Manchester United and England midfielder, who has been a target for most of the summer, after moneybags City registered their interest yesterday.

There had been doubts whether the 30-year-old would be offered a deal today but, as he is not bound by the rules of the transfer window, the deal did not have to be done by the 11pm deadline.

However, City have still completed the deal on transfer deadline day and Albion have lost their man.
