Roberto Di Matteo is back at Chelsea

Former Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo is back in football after becoming Chelsea's new assistant manager.

The 41-year-old, sacked by the Baggies in February, is Andre Villas-Boas' new right-hand-man in a move which sees him return to Stamford Bridge.

The Italian is a much-loved figure by Chelsea fans, having played 175 games for the club between 1996 and 2002.

Di Matteo was interviewed for the vacant job at Birmingham recently but was overlooked for former Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton.

The former Milton Keynes Dons boss is best remembered for scoring one of Chelsea's most famous goals, when his long-range effort hit the Middlesbrough net after just 42 seconds of the 1997 FA Cup final.
