Peter Odemwingie's dramatic late winner gave Albion a priceless three points in a thriller against Blackpool.

The Baggies had battled back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 with 10 minutes to go, only for Gary Taylor-Fletcher's equaliser for the Seasiders and silence the Hawthorns.

But Odemwingie scored the winner with his second of the game with three minutes remaining to end the home side's run of six successive defeats and hand them a first win of 2011.

James Morrison had put Albion ahead early in the second-half, after Odemwingie had cancelled out David Vaughan's classy opener to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Albion made a poor start and could have been behind on two minutes, when they failed to cut out Luke Varney's diagonal ball and were grateful to see DJ Campbell fire wide.

But, after Chris Brunt has squandered a half-chance at the far post, they were 1-0 down after failing to react to a short corner from the visitors.

Stephen Crainey's cross was half-cleared but Vaughan picked up the pieces and side-stepped away from a defender before curling a brilliant left-footed shot into the top corner past a helpless Boaz Myhill, who had replaced the axed Scott Carson in goal.

Crainey then came to Blackpool's rescue by blocking on the line from Brunt's goalbound shot after a run and cross from Jerome Thomas.

An eventful day for the Blackpool left-back continued when he almost beat goalkeeper Richard Kingson for a comical own-goal.

But Albion were dominating by now and they finally levelled eight minutes before half-time.

Graham Dorrans floated a clever ball over the Blackpool defence, who stood still appealing for offside against Odemwingie.

But the flag correctly stayed down and the Nigeria international took a touch before finishing low past Kingson.

The teams traded good chances early in the second half with Brunt firing straight at Kingson before Campbell got clear and shot inches wide.

But the Baggies led on 52 minutes when they broke effectively from halfway and Thomas darted past Neal Eardley and fired in a low cross, which Morrison met ahead of Crainey to poke home.

Morrison could have made it 2-0 moments later but Kingson just held on to his low shot before Brunt missed the target from an Odemwingie shot.

Then the Baggies squandered too glorious chances, first when Odemwingie raced clear but allowed Kingson to make a low save, then when Morrison lifted a shot over the bar from 15 yards after good work by the Russia international.

Albion then paid for their missed chances as the Seasiders equalised with 10 minutes to go, with several home defenders nowhere to be seen.

Vaughan found substitute Matthew Phillips on the right and his cross to the far post was turned in by the unmarked Taylor-Fletcher.

But the Baggies rescued themselves to claim all three points through Odemwingie.

The Albion striker raced onto Paul Scharner's diagonal ball and outmuscled Craig Cathcart before poking a low shot past Kingson.
