Joe Mattock joins Sheffield United

Albion defender Joe Mattock today joined Sheffield United on loan for the rest of the season.

The former Leicester defender, aged 20, has fallen behind Marek Cech and Nicky Shorey in the battle for the Baggies left-back berth.

New Blades boss Micky Adams offered the former England Under-21s international the chance to kick-start his career in the Championship.

Mattock has not played for Albion since he was sentenced in September following an incident at a Leicester nightclub.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of affray and was handed 10 months detention, suspended for two years.
