Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has warned his side they are entering a vital period in their battle for Premier League survival.

And the head coach has pledged they will not get carried away with their impressive start.

The Baggies have claimed sixth place in the table seven games into their latest Premier League campaign.

But Di Matteo believes vital matches lie ahead between now and Christmas.

He said: "It's early days. We are only seven games into the league. At the beginning of the season we said we wouldn't get too depressed if results weren't going our way.

"So we're not going to get too excited about the fact we have made a decent start to the season. We will just keep on going and try our best in every game.

"I think it is important to have a good start, and considering the teams we have played it's very good that we have some points on the board."

"But there are some vital months coming up, in November and December we have a lot of games against our main competitors.

"It will be important for us that we carry the right form into those, so we can win some of those games."

Albion resume their campaign after the international break with a trip to Old Trafford on Saturday to face Manchester United.

Expectations will be high among fans after the team's historic victory at Arsenal last month.

But Di Matteo still believes there is no pressure on his side as they prepare to face United.

He said: "After Saturday we will have played all of the big boys. We have played at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and the Emirates Stadium.

"Now we're going to play at Old Trafford. It's great to play there in a fantastic stadium against a great team. It will be very difficult for us.

"Everybody expects us to lose at Old Trafford so there is no pressure on us, so it's one of those games where the onus is all on Manchester United."
