Tom Knowles on how his non-league experience is helping Walsall
Walsall winger Tom Knowles has experienced a rollercoaster journey back to the EFL.
Knowles came through Cambridge United's ranks under Mark Bonner, who later went onto inspire the U's first team to promotion into League One alongside Walsall assistant Gary Waddock.
But Knowles found it difficult to establish himself at the Abbey Stadium, and ultimately embarked on eight different loan spells across non-league.
"I can choose one of eight (loan spells). I remember my time at Royston. I really enjoyed that. The team and the club were brilliant," Knowles reflects.
"My time at Cambridge City and St Ives. They were fantastic loans. I never didn't enjoy a loan.
