Ryan Stirk happy to share Walsall goal burden
Ryan Stirk was delighted to open his account for Walsall – and play his part in providing the midfield goal support that the team will need this season, writes Brian Halford.
Stirk struck late on to pouch the equaliser in the Saddlers’ 1-1 draw at home to Grimsby. His goal earned his side a deserved point and the 22-year-old intends to add to it as soon as possible to help ensure the goalscoring responsibility does not rest squarely with the strikers.
“I was pleased to score,” Stirk said. “I wanted to get my first goal. I went close at Wrexham and last Saturday my role gave me the licence to get forward a little bit and the ball just fell nicely for me and I put it away.
