Walsall's Chris Hussey determined to stop the flow of goals against
Walsall have the ingredients of a good team but must cut out individual errors – according to defender Chris Hussey.
The Saddlers have conceded 11 goals in their opening four matches in all competitions and while a tally of eight scored suggest Walsall pack a punch in attack, Hussey is determined to stop the flow of goals against.
Hussey said: “I just can’t see past the amount of goals that we are conceding. Of course we are doing well with the ball and we’ve got the ingredients of a good team but we just need to defend more as a team, and cut out the individual errors, myself included. We need to start keeping clean sheets because you can see what we can do to teams. We can open them up but we defend as a team, it’s not just a back-five, and we all need to take responsibility.”
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat at Wrexham will provide Joe Foulkes and Harry Williams with a prime opportunity to learn from disappointment - according to head coach Mat Sadler.
