Walsall keeper coach Dan Watson happy to be working with 'two number ones'
Walsall goalkeeper coach Dan Watson has commended Jackson Smith for how he conducted himself during his loan spell at Bescot last term.
Smith penned a permanent deal with the Saddlers last Friday after spending the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan from Wolves.
The 21-year-old stepped into the breach when Owen Evans picked up an injury at Crawley Town in April.
He was introduced for his debut as a half-time substitute by Mat Sadler, and kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw.
Smith was between the sticks once again as Walsall defeated Doncaster 2-1 on the final day, and Watson believes his performances in both games illustrated that he is more than capable at senior level.
