Matt Maher: Credit to West Brom - but season ticket price hikes far from ideal for Walsall fans
There are countless reasons for Albion supporters to be angry right now.
The cost of getting into The Hawthorns, at least, is not among them. While Villa, Wolves and Walsall have risked the ire of fans with sizeable or at least continued increases to season ticket prices, the Baggies continue to buck the trend by keeping any rises to a minimum.
It’s a policy particularly worthy of credit, for the fact they would have more excuses than most to ramp up the prices.
Heightened financial concerns following their failure to win promotion to the Premier League and the need to make-up for the absence of parachute payments meant it would not have been a huge surprise if the club had placed a greater part of the burden on supporters’ wallets. Instead, no fan will pay more than an extra £30, with those under-25 seeing prices frozen.
