Oxford loanee Osei Yaw was disappointing on Saturday during his first start for the club, while Birmingham loanee Reid has yet to feature for the first team.

Dutton insists, with the tight schedule, that they will get a chance and wants them to be ready.

“We have a big squad now with 25 players,” Dutton said.

“Lads that are on the fringes need to be patient and professional. Be ready to take your opportunity.

“Sometimes they’re few and far between when you’re of Jayden’s age and you’re on-loan from big neighbouring clubs. It’s a case of making sure you’re razor sharp when you come in to take your opportunity. He will get an opportunity between now and the end of the season. I really like Jayden, he’s a great lad and a talented boy but I need men out on the pitch from now until the end of the season.

“Boys are a bit of luxury but I have full confidence in Jayden that when he does get his opportunity that he’ll take it.

“We lost the big man (Elijah Adebayo) to Luton for hundreds of thousands of pounds. He’s gone there, scored and got man of the match, he’s a talented boy.

“He was a focal point for us and we had to react fairly quickly in the market on that final day.

“We brought Derick in, and Jayden (earlier in the window), and we’re looking for them to fill those boots.

“Once they get their opportunity in we need them to take it.”
