Liam Roberts - 9

This was potentially the goalkeeper’s best performance of the season. He made several wonderful saves, including three big ones in the first half. If it was not for Roberts’ performance Walsall could well have lost this game.

Cameron Norman - 8

The right-back played three positions throughout the game, including another stint in midfield, and he covered every blade of grass. His tireless work helped run the time down when Walsall were down to 10 men.

Hayden White - 6

A steady performance by White who has improved in recent weeks. His run in the team is helping him. He does tend to lose the ball in tight areas, however.

Dan Scarr - 6

Scarr did well to win most balls in the air but has seemed off the boil recently. His play with the ball at his feet still needs some work.

Mat Sadler - 7

Sadler showed essential leadership qualities in his communication throughout the game and did relatively well. At times, however, he was caught in behind and needed help from team-mates.

Max Melbourne - 6

Melbourne has quality on the ball and linked up well with McDonald in the early stages of the first half. On the other hand, he was too far forward in the first half when he should haver been supporting Sadler. In the second half he had little attacking threat.

Liam Kinsella - 7

Kinsella had a brilliant first half and broke up play with with interceptions and tackles. He was then sent off, perhaps harshly, 10 minutes into the second half. Despite that, he still gets a seven rating.

Frank Vincent - 7

Vincent carried the ball well and always looked forward when he had the ball. He also did the other side of the game well, and won tackles in midfield. He offers a bit more of a creative option in midfield.

Emmanuel Osadebe - 6

Osadebe had a poor first half in which he offered little attacking threat and regularly lost the ball. He didn’t fit the system, in reality. In the second half he worked hard and won the ball back for his team with 10 men, which helps his rating.

Wes McDonald - 5

McDonald looked sharp in the opening minutes but failed to live up to that for the remainder of the game. He was rightly substituted.

Caolan Lavery - 7

Lavery showed great desire to get his goal and a good work-ethic throughout. He's now got two goals in as many games and will hopefully kick on from here.

Substitutes

Josh Gordon (for McDonald, 60) 7, Alfie Bates (for Lavery, 69) 6, Callum Cockerill-Mollett (for Osadebe, 86).

Subs not used: Rose, Nolan, Osei Yaw, Reid.
