The 33-year-old's last start for the club came on December 29th and he has been missing in recent weeks with an unspecified injury.

Guthrie's first season with Walsall was also marred with several knocks.

A club statement read: "Walsall Football Club can confirm that midfielder Danny Guthrie has today left the club by mutual consent.

"The 33-year-old played 44 times for the Saddlers, scoring once.

"We would like to thank Danny for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him well for the future."
