Walsall defender Dan Scarr has challenged himself to score more headed goals and take advantage of his aerial superiority.

The centre-back is one of the most powerful headers of the ball in League Two as he towers above many of his team-mates and opposition numbers.

Despite this prominent skill at his disposal the 26-year-old has only scored one headed goal this season, scoring his other two strikes from corners but with his feet.

He has had several attempts from set pieces that he should have done better with, including two first half headers against Salford at the weekend, and he's now determined to make better use of his attributes.

"Not to big myself up too much, but with my heading ability I should be scoring more goals," Scarr said.

"At Tranmere I should have had two.

"We've been working on corners a bit more and the deliveries.

"It's starting to come off. I need to get myself a few more goals and help the team out as much as I can.

"It's about believing you're going to score when you go up there.

"With the balls we can put into the box and our aerial threat, I should be getting on more headers.

"Whether that's to set others up or score myself, we need to keep working on it.

When asked if anything had changed in his approach to set pieces, Scarr added: "I think it's just the runs and knowing where each other are going to be now.

"The lads are starting to chip in with goals. Elijah (Adebayo) is picking it up. We have Flash (Josh Gordon) back and he's going to start scoring. Lavs (Caolan Lavery), when he comes on, looks like scoring.

"We have players who will get good chances so of we can keep the goals out at the back and add some from set pieces, that's how you get yourself out of League Two."

Meanwhile, Hayden White insists the team did not do enough to earn any points in the 2-0 loss at Salford.

"Obviously we wanted to win the game and that hasn't happened, so it's been a frustrating day all round," White said.

"I wouldn't say it didn't click, everyone has tried hard and it just hasn't happened for us.

"Sometimes you have these results and on the back of four wins on the bounce you can have these down games.

"We have to pick ourselves up and go again.

"You know when you come to places like this it's going to be difficult to break them down.

"We just haven't done enough. I don't think they dominated us or were that much better than us.

"It was one of those scrappy games that when you're chasing the game you concede another."
